…Much has been written about the pending “rule-change” and I thought I’d make the point: The BATFE proposes changes to the definition of “armor piercing” because as Eric Holder demonstrates, when things are too hard, simply change the rules to suit your own agenda.
Holder in September 2011, publicly said:
“The notion that somehow or other this thing reaches into the upper levels of the Justice Department is something that. … I don’t think is supported by the facts,” Holder told reporters at an unrelated press conference in Washington. “It’s kind of something I think certain members of Congress would like to see, the notion that somehow or other high-level people in the department were involved. As I said, I don’t think that is going to be shown to be the case … .”
Clearly a denial. He said no “higher-ups” at his Department knew… . Was he not including himself?
…after being sent a news story about the Fast and Furious investigation, Holder told staff, “I hope there is another side to the story.” Later, after the ATF deputy director told Holder aides that “we did not allow guns to walk,” Holder responded to staff with, “Do they really, really know?”
Holder’s chief of staff warned the attorney general in an email that the matter “keeps escalating.”
April 2011, as Congressman Darrell Issa continued his investigation:
“Issa and his idiot cronies never gave a damn about this when all that was happening was that thousands of Mexicans were being killed with guns from our country,” Holder shot back in an email. “All they want to do — in reality — is cripple ATF and suck up to the gun lobby. Politics at its worst.”
In February 2012, speaking to angry lawmakers, Holder promised that those responsible would face the appropriate consequences:
I assure you those people will be removed from federal service, Holder said, adding that these charges will be brought against the guilty parties in the next six months.
Deny and Detract. Throw others under the bus.
So he “removes himself” from federal service, two years later. Perhaps a presidential pardon in Eric Holder’s future?
The point? When politicians say things like, “There are no chemical weapons in Iraq“, “The IRS does not abuse its power,” “If you like your health care plan you can keep it,” or “Benghazi was a protest,” keep moving.
