The 1st Amendment is important:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
But one graphic reminder of why the 2nd is more so:
Gun control advocates can wail and gnash their teeth about 2nd Amendment rights and gun violence in this Country. Our founders meant for the Constitution and its Bill of Rights to protect us from potentially dangerous central and state government.
But the world is a violent place, and a disarmed populace is vulnerable. And not only to its own government.
