Rodeo Coming Soon!
First up, above, a dedication to our troops.
Then, they introduce the lineup, complete with a fiery line-in-the-sand, for effect:
Opening ceremonies conclude – complete with a flare-tipped flag:
Then some bronco riding – saddling up:
Did get some video though, and since I’m too cheap to pay wordpress to host video, here are some screen-grabs.. :
Barrel Riding –
After, they had cattle roping and tying. Could not see that, it was on the other side of the arena, we had a full-house, were at top of the stands and had a great big support girder in the way… .
Then Intermission: We have a clown with a gun. He “shot” a hole in his hat:
Cowgirls then riding around the ring doing tricks:
There was activity for the kids – chickens and pigs were set loose for the kids to try to catch. You think those broncs were fast? You’ve not seen a chicken running from 100+ crazed redneck chil’rens… .
And finally, the main event, the bulls. Again, tough for my amateur photog skills, but the highlight of the evening:
This guy had it rough, the bull stomped him good. He walked off though:
Limping off. I am glad he walked away.
And then they had a kind of free-style bull roping… .
I will definitely bring other equipment next time. Using SO’s Olympus E-PL1 with a 40-150 mm F4 telephoto, well, it could not keep up with the low light and fast action of the day. I don’t think it runs faster than ISO 1600 either. If I had better skill perhaps too – but next year I’m bringing my Canon, with a couple more lenses. My 28-75mm 2.5 would definitely do better with the light… .
It was a good time. The best part? I had a cold. So I missed out on the smells. Yeah.
