July 4. Independence.

waving-american-flag-graphics-4-1Today, we celebrate the 4th of July.  With fireworks, parades, picnics, and festivals.  My favorite among holidays.

A holiday, where public offices are closed, we take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, to remember.  Well, most of the informed among us at least.  (The dolts on the video on this link are, ahh… .  really dumb.  That’s being exceedingly polite).

I have a grill, potato salad, brats, burgers and plans for our local fireworks.

They surely celebrated on this day, in 1776, yes?

signing_declarationNo.

Just some bells, pealing out in Philadelphia.  The actual Declaration was not signed by all its signators until later…. .   But what we celebrate this day, other than that declaration, is what happened after.  And the great sacrifice of countless others since.   Beginning right with our founders…. .
