Buh Bye!

Two Broward County brothers were sentenced Thursday after admitting they planned a terrorist attack on New York City landmarks and then assaulted two U.S. marshals while in custody.

The judge emphasized to both men that the U.S. had welcomed them and provided them with many opportunities and benefits when they moved here with their family in 2000. They were living in an apartment in the Sailboat Pointe community on Oakland Park Boulevard, rented by Sheheryar Qazi and his wife, when the brothers were arrested.

The men took advantage of educational benefits by attending public school and college classes in South Florida, the judge told them said.

The older brother also received treatment at medical centers here and his young son has benefited from taxpayer-supported pre-school, the judge said.

Of course they took advantage of all that this Country has to offer.  For many muslims, taking advantage of the infidels is part of the plan, it’s the “tax” from non-believers that they think they are entitled to.

choud620_1674690a‘People will say, ‘Ah, but you are not working’. But the normal situation is for you to take money from the kuffar (non-Muslim).

‘So we take Jihadseeker’s Allowance. You need to get support.’

Grand Jury Subpoena Power. Or Abuse.

Not-sure-if-trolling-or-just-stupidReason.com gets subpoenaed after its story on the Silk Road case draws threatening trolls… .

In this courtroom sketch U.S. District Judge Katherine Forrest reads transcripts of speeches made by Mustafa Kamel Mustafa, during Mustafa's sentencing Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, in New York where the Islamic cleric convicted of terrorism charges in a 1998 kidnapping that killed four tourists in Yemen and in failed plans to build a terrorist training camp in the U.S. was sentenced to life in prison. Forrest called Mustafa's actions "barbaric, misguided and wrong" and read aloud the names of his victims, saying: "With the passage of time, their names have not been lost." Commentary varies.

Further, there’s actually a valid reason for this. Taking any human life is evil, but when you go after an elected official, a cop or a judge, you are attacking the system of justice and the rule of law which keep us from falling into anarchy and oblivion. It’s a serious thing and law enforcement treats it as such.

Understood.  But trolling is just that.  There is no valid threat.  You have to have intent, so you’re not likely to get an indictment.  So, why?

Or how much it will cost you to hire a lawyer to defend yourself against an obviously meritless investigation, for speaking your mind in a manner that no one, except a wet-behind-the-ears mutton-headed Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, who should be defenestrated through a plate glass window for wasting taxpayer dollars on a frivolous investigation of mere internet braggadocio and hyperbole, would read as anything other than mere internet braggadocio and hyperbole. about the wrong people. People like Eli Manning, or a federal judge who issued an incredibly harsh sentence in a very political case?

But ask whether that’s an internet, or for that matter a country, in which you wish to live.

This is Obama’s Justice Department, lest we forget… .

ISIS threatens Algeria, Obama has no Strategy. Still.

Obama recently admits No Strategy on ISIS… .

“Did anyone tell him that it’s his job to develop a strategy?”

The potential threat of ISIS terrorist attacks also has been boosted by news that ISIS accumulated enough radioactive materials in Iraq and Syria to build a “dirty bomb” according to Australian intelligence reports.

Um, wait, that was a long time ago, last fall… ?

Here’s a thought – Obama wants ISIS to flourish.  Part of his “re-making” America.  Well, Mr. President, there are many who don’t want America “re-made.”

USS Harnett County (LST-821) the China Sea Conflict, and the “Nine Dash Line.”

The Harnett, during its heyday. Image: Wikipedia.

800px-UH-1E_HAL-4_LST-821_Oct1967China’s “kill chain:” China’s bid to control and project power in the China Sea, in the Spratley and Paracel Islands, and other countries competing interests in that area.  It has generated some news lately.

Not something that the Most Common Denominator in the US would pay attention to.  But perhaps a flashpoint for future conflict.

The USS Harnett County was a landing-craft in WW2, given to Vietnam, and then ended up with the Phillipines.  When it was then run aground to serve as an outpost in the highly-contested Spratley Islands.

The Harnett today, aka the Sierra Madre, stuck on a reef by the Philippine Navy in its dispute with China. Wonder if those old guns work.

China has made claims to the islands, despite the fact that its really not anywhere near their own maritime boarders.

In any event, China’s goals are to establish static “aircraft-carriers” in that area, to allow them to project power, make claims on natural resources, and counter any threat from US Carrier groups.  Word is, the latter would last just about as long as the former if any major conflict breaks out.

And apparently, if China seeks to tow the Harnett County off the reef its grounded on, we’re obligated to intervene.  How nice.

And made possible by the current administration.
